Identifying the Problem

Healthcare leaders considering AI need to determine where it can offer value and whether their organization is ready to adopt it responsibly. A practical strategy connects service delivery and operational opportunities with organizational strategy, governance and the capabilities needed to move forward safely, considering the nuanced needs of the organization, its staff, and most importantly, the people it serves.

Taking Action

Optimus SBR worked closely with leadership to assess AI readiness across various dimensions, prioritize opportunities, and develop a strategy aligned with the organization’s mission. The work combined adoption planning with governance guidance to support responsible and safe implementation for use cases that impact both business operations and client-facing service delivery.

  • 22 prioritized AI use cases gave leadership a clearer focus for evaluating opportunities and investment decisions.
  • 15 strategic initiatives and a two-year illustrative roadmap translated strategic direction into practical next steps.
  • Draft Responsible AI Policy and Guidelines provided a foundation for consistent oversight and responsible adoption.

How We Got There

The Challenge

A community-based healthcare organization sought a practical, responsible AI strategy aligned with its mission and organizational priorities. It needed to assess its readiness, identify and prioritize opportunities, and define the governance and capabilities required to support safe, sustainable adoption.

The Solution

Optimus SBR completed a comprehensive assessment of the organization’s AI readiness across strategy, governance, technology, data, and talent. The team, comprised of experts in AI innovation and adoption as well as community care, worked closely with leadership to identify and prioritize 22 use cases which informed the definition of a vision, objectives, and guiding principles for responsible AI adoption. The formulation of 15 strategic initiatives, a two-year illustrative roadmap, and a draft Responsible AI Policy and Guidelines complemented the strategy, providing a starting point and clear path forward for oversight and responsible use.

The Results

The organization gained a clear direction for AI investment, with prioritized opportunities aligned to its mission and readiness. The strategic initiatives and illustrative roadmap translated that direction into practical next steps, identifying capabilities to develop and change management strategies to support suitable adoption across groups.

The draft Responsible AI Policy and Guidelines established a foundation for consistent oversight and decision-making, equipping leadership to advance AI responsibly and sustainably.

The Optimus SBR team has been asked to continue supporting this important initiative by providing hands-on implementation support, currently underway.
